If possible, it is always a good idea to schedule your movers as far in advance as time will allow. You will most likely need moving boxes so plan ahead and get your boxes ready a few weeks before your big move. We recommend using new boxes because you don’t want your possessions damaged due to the poor integrity of a box that has been through one too many moves. However, we understand that moving can be an expensive time so if you would like to save a few bucks on boxes here are some useful tips:
- You can get free boxes from stores like Walmart, Target, Liquor stores, etc. Just go up to the customer service counter and ask for their used boxes.
- Check websites like craigslist.org for curb alerts; here you will find posts by people who have recently moved and have to get rid of their boxes.
- Keep in mind though, if you choose to find your boxes rather than buy them plan ahead and start your search at least a month or two in advance.
